Finding my new normal.

It’s crazy how life can change in the blink of an eye. But most of us in the SCI community know this all too well.

Hi! I’m Mary.

In May 2017, I graduated from Temple University with a degree in Communications. In June, I started my first ‘big girl’ job at a public relations agency. And in July, I started looking for my first post-college apartment in Philadelphia. Everything was going according to plan.

Until suddenly it wasn’t. Continue reading “Finding my new normal.”

Surprise! I (finally) made a blog.

After about a year of talking about it, I finally did it. I made a blog! I have a long list of excuses I thought about writing in this introduction as to why it’s taken me so dang long. But let’s just skip past all that nonsense. This blog has been delayed enough already.

To be honest, I think the real reason I’ve been putting it off for so long is that I’ve been scared. I don’t open up to friends or family very easily, let alone the Internet. Never have, but especially now that my life is so different. Writing has always been my way of putting myself out there. And now, I’m finally ready to share.

My hope for this blog/diary/website is that it will help me be more open about what’s happened to me. And hopefully, give others a glimpse of what life is like living with a severe spinal cord injury.

So, welcome! Here you will find random life ramblings, recovery updates, videos from my therapy sessions, and pretty much whatever else I feel like posting. If you want to know more about me, head on over to my About Me page or stick around (and stop by again!) to read my posts.
